The simplest dishes are the best. We had excellent sea bass with spinach and salmon with spinach and potatoes; as well as the fish, the spinach and potatoes were perfectly finished. The night's special was excellent boar ravioli BUT it was covered in a pink sauce seen only in British/Italian restaurants---passata or marinara with cream? NO. NO. NO. But the Brits add cream to everything (see chicken tikka masala). Perfectly horrible thing to do to nice boar ravioli. We also had pretty good, if not excellent calamari (a bit tough) served with a strange sour cream (and pickle? parsley) sauce

An unpretentious little Italian restaurant with a good sense of what fresh means. I have eaten here before many times and never have been disappointed with the food. Their seafood pasta is the best and they have a good choice of house wine. Not sophisticated, and the service isn't the fastest because it's usually full and only two people or one person serving due to size, but they are very nice and do the job well.

One of the greatest finds on our trip. This little family owned spot was two blocks from our Doubletree hotel and was highly recommended by our Gate1 tour director. Having been traveling for 9-days and eating some rather exotic and wonderful food we craved a solid bowl of pasta. My Bolognese was fantastic and the salad with Burrata was to die for. One of our companions asked for some special preparation due to dietary needs and the owner complied w/o blinking an eye. We watched the pizza's coming out and they were mouthwatering...

This place was amazing! We initially came in the door because of convenience (large group and a family friendly menu). We were completely impressed by everything we had. The starter of garlic prawns was amazing! The dinners for our family were delicious - wild boar tortellini, pollo fungi y crema, prawns with garlic, lasagna and pizza margarita (for kids). All meals were outstanding! Chianti was fantastic and the tiramisu was to die for. Our group demolished it in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend for a special off the charts meal. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.

Mangiabene is just around the corner from the Doubletree Islington and the Angel subway stop. The food was excellent and made with fresh ingredients. We also loved the tiramisu. Our waitress was friendly as was the management. A great find!

Well Philipo at the Double Tree recommended this place for dinner - well he is Italian!

And its good - nice simple meal, good service, friendly, welcoming...only one gripe - the dessert menu is separate so when you are trying to judge , pace & balance your meal you don't know how...they said well its separate on purpose...so ok we had a look...not interesting, some pre-bought stuff...so stick with the starters & mains, they're good...as was the little half bottle of wine - check the photo

Yes, if that way again would return

We went to Mangiabene off of a recommendation from our hotel staff. I am glad we took her advise!

Atmosphere: Tiny, and cozy. Romantic. Fine dining.

Staff/Service: The staff was very friendly and willing to accommodate special requests. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of the time, so our food did not take long to arrive. Our water glasses stayed full. No complaints.

Food: Very fresh, home-made food. It seemed like their was actually passion put into our meals. My boyfriend had Pollo alla Milanese, breaded chicken with pasta in tomato sauce and thought it was quite

We were excited when returned back to London to find that this restaurant was still there.
Great family feel restaurant, lovely tasty Italian food along with great service. Great portions for price. The garlic/tomato bread is a meal on its own. Comes out on a fantastic pizza base and the tomato based sauce is excellent.
House wine was also very nice.

This place was a great find. Slightly off the beaten track near Upper Street it's definitely worth a small diversion. For starters we tried the 2 specials; Parmigiana melanzanne & King prawn with chilli and garlic. The melanzanne in particular was fantastic and probably the best I've ever eaten. Just cheesy enough and not overly greasy or oily.

Onto mains and we decided to go for one of each of the Italian options. Pepperoni and artichoke pizza plus Fettuccine pasta with porcini mushrooms and truffle. The pizza that arrived was actually not what I ordered and even though they were
