A visit to historic Lincoln on a crisp cold but sunny day might for some be a roll of the dice or clutching at straws in an attempt to wish away the winter and focus on the harbingers of spring.

We only stopped in for a snack lunch and a couple of drinks but they were very helpful and pleasant even though we weren't spending a lot of money. Seemed to have quite a few locals in so must be ok. Their chicken strips were particularly nice and appeared to actually be home made.

Looked a nice old fashioned pub so we decided to try the food. They had a lunch time special on the menu and we ordered at the bar. Expected the discount to apply when the till totalled but it didn't. We queried it and were told the discount only applied between 2-4pm. When we checked the menu again we saw a rectangular box had been drawn around the time in the menu to obliterate the 1 in the number 12. I photographed it. Hmm. Not nice. All the menus were marked the same. We talked about it, feeling stitched up, but having arranged to meet in the Bailgate and on time constraints we decided to stick
