Services
Tree Pruning
Our pruning services enhance tree health and structural integrity following BS 3998 guidelines. We perform crown thinning, lifting, and reduction to improve light penetration, prevent hazards, and maintain aesthetic appeal. Formative pruning for young trees ensures balanced development, while mature trees receive targeted care to prolong lifespan and ensure public safety.
Storm Damage Response
We provide rapid response for storm-damaged trees, prioritising safety and site restoration. Our team removes unstable trees, clears blocked roads, and implements preventative measures like crown thinning. Available 24/7, we ensure swift resolution of hazards while minimising environmental impact through responsible waste management.
Veteran Tree Management
Specialist care for historic trees includes structural assessments, targeted pruning, and habitat preservation. We reinforce fragile branches, monitor decay, and develop long-term management plans to balance safety with ecological value. This service supports biodiversity while maintaining Edinburgh's natural heritage.
Tree Surveys
BS 5837-compliant surveys inform planning applications, risk assessments, and conservation efforts. We document tree conditions, assess development impacts, and provide legal compliance guidance. Our reports support councils, developers, and landowners in making informed decisions about tree retention and management strategies.
Stump Removal
Professional stump grinding removes unsightly stumps below ground level, eliminating trip hazards and pest risks. Using specialist machinery, we ensure minimal soil disturbance and immediate site reuse. This service facilitates landscaping projects, construction, or replanting while maintaining garden aesthetics and safety.

Questions
How do I know if my tree needs professional attention?
Look for dead branches, fungal growth, leaning trunks, or exposed roots. These signs indicate potential hazards requiring expert assessment. Our certified arborists can evaluate tree health and recommend appropriate action.
What is a Tree Preservation Order (TPO)?
A TPO legally protects trees from unauthorised work. Permission is required before pruning or removal. We handle TPO applications and ensure compliance with local council regulations for protected trees.
When is the best time for tree work?
Winter is ideal for dormant pruning, while summer suits species like cherries. Emergency removals require immediate action. Our arborists determine optimal timing based on tree species and condition.
Can I do tree work myself?
DIY tree surgery poses serious risks. Professional equipment, training, and legal compliance are essential. Hiring ARB-approved contractors ensures safe, legal, and high-quality results.
What happens to trees after removal?
We repurpose 100% of tree waste: logs become firewood, branches turn into mulch, and usable timber gets recycled. Replanting services help restore greenery where trees have been removed.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance?
Yes, we provide annual pruning programs, health assessments, and preservation plans. Regular maintenance ensures trees remain healthy, safe, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Did a very good job of thinning and reducing the height of an established tree. It looks much better. They also felled a tree for me. All done professionally and site was left very tidy when they finished.

I've been impressed by the professionalism, efficiency, courtesy (& good cheer whilst working in appalling weather conditions) of everyone involved. From the initial appraisal to the final stump-grinding I felt confident that a good job was being done. My thanks to all concerned.
