Crisis

Established in 1996, we are a Scottish-based counselling service dedicated to providing accessible mental health support when it is needed most. Our organisation was founded by Jean Cumming in response to the lack of early intervention services within the NHS, and we have since supported over 50,000 individuals through face-to-face, telephone, and online counselling. We work with diverse client groups including children, adults, military veterans, and corporate clients, offering non-time-limited therapy tailored to individual needs. Our team of qualified counsellors operates under strict ethical guidelines set by BACP and COSCA, with all staff undergoing Disclosure Scotland PVG checks. As a Social Enterprise Mark holder, we reinvest all income into expanding our services, ensuring accessibility for those facing geographic, financial, or physical barriers.

Our partnerships with health, social care, and education providers enable us to deliver targeted support across 23 of Scotland's Local Authority areas. We maintain rigorous quality standards through post-counselling evaluations and clinical supervision frameworks. Our volunteer board of directors brings expertise from clinical, financial, and public sectors to ensure organisational excellence. Over 2,200 clients have benefited from our services in the past year alone, including 800 young people at risk of mental health crises. We remain committed to our founding ethos of providing early intervention support while adapting to contemporary challenges such as pandemic-related mental health needs.
