De Giorgio Butchers are an award winning, traditional butchers based in Whitburn and Cleadon, two bordering villages in Sunderland. Established in 1978 by Steven De Giorgio, providing high quality, locally sourced meat and produce to the area for over 40 years! As one of the oldest butchers in the North East, we know our trade inside-out, little has changed in our recipes & techniques in over 40 years.
We know where our meat comes from! We work with local suppliers and farmers to ensure our meat is from high welfare farms and traceable. We are one of the few North East Butchers who carry out whole animal butchery (nose to tail) ensuring traceability and eliminating unnecessary waste.

I started working in the local butchers shop when I was 13, delivering meat on a butcher's bike on Saturdays, over the next 6 years I learnt everything from boning meat to making sausage. At the age of 13 Steven De Giorgio started out with a Saturday job at his local butchers in South Shields, delivering meat to the locals on a butcher's bike.

After starting out with a shop in South Shields back in 1978, then going on to open a butchers shop in Fulwell, Sunderland - De Giorgio Butchers now operate from stores based in Whitburn and Cleadon, two idyllic bordering villages in North East England. De Giorgio Butchers of Whitburn Village was the second store to be opened by Steven De Giorgio back in 1997.

With over 40 years in the trade we have established valuable relationships with the best local suppliers and farmers, to ensure the meat we supply is high quality. We carry out traditional whole animal butchery, ensuring consistency and traceability. Our Beef is hand selected from a local supplier, coming from various local farms in Durham, Hexham and Northumberland, we use a lot of traditional British Breeds as well as Aberdeen Angus and Dexter.
