Your Trusted Hypnotherapy Partner in Glastonbury
The NewMan Practice is a dedicated hypnotherapy clinic specialising in solution-focused interventions for anxiety, addiction, stress, and related conditions. With over two decades of experience, our founder Richard J L Newman combines clinical hypnotherapy with neuroscience insights to empower clients to overcome challenges and achieve lasting positive change. Our approach prioritises client autonomy, evidenced by our structured programmes for teenagers and adults, which address root causes rather than symptoms. We maintain affiliations with professional bodies like the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.

Our practice is grounded in transparency, with clear explanations of therapeutic processes and outcomes, and we provide tailored support materials including custom hypnotherapy soundtracks and cognitive exercises. The practice operates from a tranquil consulting room in Glastonbury's Library of Avalon, reflecting our commitment to creating an environment conducive to healing and self-discovery.

Services
Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy
Our stop smoking programme delivers permanent habit change in a single 2-hour session. By reprogramming subconscious associations through clinical hypnotherapy, we address both nicotine dependency and psychological triggers. Clients typically achieve abstinence after one treatment, with follow-up support available as needed. The approach combines neuro-linguistic programming with evidence-based behavioural modification techniques.
Anxiety Relief
Specialised treatment for generalised anxiety and specific phobias using solution-focused hypnotherapy. We target the amygdala's stress response while building coping mechanisms through guided trance states. Sessions incorporate mindfulness training and cognitive restructuring to break anxiety cycles, with measurable improvements typically observed within 4-6 weeks.
IBS Management
Gut-brain axis therapy addressing irritable bowel syndrome through stress reduction techniques. Hypnotherapy sessions target the enteric nervous system's response to psychological triggers, with 85% of clients reporting significant symptom improvement according to clinical studies. Treatment includes lifestyle modification guidance and autonomic nervous system regulation exercises.
Sleep Improvement
The Fast 2 Sleep course resolves chronic sleep issues through neuroplasticity-based interventions. Two intensive sessions retrain circadian rhythms and reduce limbic system hyperactivity using targeted hypnotherapy. Clients receive custom soundtracks for home reinforcement and learn behavioural strategies to optimise sleep hygiene and melatonin production.
Teenage Programme
Four-hour neuroscience-based course for adolescents aged 12-24, addressing brain development during prefrontal cortex remodelling. Parents attend sessions to understand neurobiological changes affecting behaviour, with strategies for constructive communication and emotional regulation. The programme prevents escalation of anxiety and self-esteem issues through early intervention.

Dec 02, 2017 Report
Richard is a true professional. He is knowledgable in his field and extremely personable. Richard manages to combine an insightful, scientific approach to the workings of the mind with a more personal discussion -based interaction. He is warm, open and emotionally available, which puts one at ease and makes one feel as though they can be completely open and honest about whatever issue they are trying to resolve. I found both the solution based hypnotherapy and the mindfulness practice to have enormous positive transformative effects over a short space of time. I cannot recommend Richard more highly
