Household Self-Isolation
Report
The council's Public Health teams have been made aware of conflicting advice been given out to the public, and how long households should isolate. We know it is complex and there are always exceptions to the rule. However we have been asked by public health to share the guidance again across Health and Care.
Supply disruption of Blood testing tubes/bottles
Report
A supplier to the NHS has advised us of a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests. Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but where your clinician recommends that it's safe to do so, then you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled.
When am I most at risk from flu
Report
You should also be offered the flu vaccination if you are a healthcare or social care worker directly involved in patient care. Complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia are more common in people with other diseases, especially if they are also elderly. Almost all of the deaths related to flu are in people in these groups.
Carers Direct
Report
Telling peopleCaring responsibilities can make it difficult to maintain friendships or develop new ones. Telling your friends you're a carer is important so they understand and can support you. Taking a breakCaring for someone can be a full-time job, but it's essential that you take time out for yourself too.
NSPCC & FGM – Female Genital Mutilation
Report
The girls may be taken to their countries of origin so that FGM can be carried out during the summer holidays, allowing them time to "heal" before they return to school. There are also worries that some girls may have FGM performed in the UK. This was part of a wider commitment to preventing FGM during the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.
