Podiatry
Report
Your initial appointment will be a 30 minute medical appointment. You will be asked about your medical history and any medication you take. This will be followed by an examination of your feet and discussions about what you feel are your problems. Upon your agreement the treatment will then begin. The total number of treatments required will depend on your requirements.
Corns And Calluses
Report
Corns and calluses are caused by repeated micro trauma or pressure on the skin of your foot. They may occur when bones of the foot press against the shoe or when two foot bones press together. Common sites for corns and calluses are on the big toe and the fifth toe. Calluses underneath the ends of the foot bones (metatarsals) are common.
Fungal Nails
Report
Fungal nail infections, referred to in medical terms as onychomycosis, occurs when a fungi infects the nails. The infection often originates initially from Athletes foot. Usually the first sign of the nail infection is a white or yellow/brown opaque streak which either appears at one side of the nail or under the tip of your nail.
Damaged/thickened Nails
Report
Many people think they have fungal nail infections when in truth their nails may just be damaged due to a lifetime of sport or activity. It's always important to make sure you get the correct diagnosis so seeing a podiatrist is essential. Following diagnosis treatments can be discussed.

These nails are caused by damage or trauma, which can mean either a single traumatic incident, like dropping something on the toe or a prolonged trauma caused by an activity or sport such as running. The trauma affects the formation of the nail cells either temporarily or repeatedly. Where the trauma is sufficient enough the nail will temporarily stop growing and when it does start growing again a line can appear.
