Online Counselling & Psychotherapy Services in London
Sustainable Empowerment was founded in 2010 with a mission to empower individuals through transformative counselling and psychotherapy. Our practice is built on the principle that emotional challenges, when addressed with professional guidance, can lead to profound personal growth. We specialise in psychodynamic counselling and person-centred therapy, helping clients overcome depression, anxiety, anger management issues, and relationship difficulties. Our therapist, Richard Gosling, brings over a decade of experience and a unique perspective shaped by personal struggles with mental health, which informs his empathetic approach. We serve clients across London and the UK through both in-person sessions at our Hammersmith practice and secure online platforms. Our commitment to client-centred care ensures tailored support that respects individual needs and fosters self-acceptance.We offer a free introductory session to help clients determine if our services align with their therapeutic goals. Our practice is grounded in evidence-based methodologies that address root causes rather than symptoms, promoting lasting emotional resilience. We prioritise creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their inner conflicts and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Our approach integrates psychodynamic principles with practical tools for managing stress, trauma, and behavioural patterns. We believe that sustainable personal growth emerges when individuals learn to trust their own experiences and reclaim their sense of self-worth.

Exploratory therapy focusing on unconscious patterns influencing current behaviour. Particularly effective for long-standing emotional issues, this approach helps clients understand how past experiences shape present challenges through a collaborative, insight-oriented process lasting typically 12+ sessions.
Anger Management
Specialised programme addressing destructive anger patterns through cognitive-behavioural techniques. Clients learn to identify triggers, develop coping strategies, and transform negative emotional responses into constructive communication while maintaining personal boundaries.
Relationship Counselling
Support for individuals and couples navigating relationship difficulties. This service addresses communication breakdowns, recurring conflict patterns, and emotional disconnects using systemic approaches that foster mutual understanding and healthier interaction frameworks.

Report
The lockdown in March forced me to come to terms with my mental health and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Richard helped me to trace my problems back to their roots and reinterpret events in a more healthy manner. After several sessions I noticed my mind was starting to automatically apply what I had learned, challenging unhealthy thoughts and replacing them with better ones. It is now one month after our last session and I am glad to confirm this has been a lasting change and my mental health has continued to improve.

Since early childhood I had learnt to live with trauma and anxiety, and, as an adult, learnt that I needed to create this in my life as it had become a form of addiction. Through psychotherapy with Richard I gradually became much more self-aware and learnt how to change destructive thought patterns into positive actions. I really feel that I now have sustainable empowerment.

My marriage had broken down and I had lost all sense of self-worth and direction in my life. Richard worked patiently and compassionately to help me restore my self-belief and find new purpose in my life.

Report
I was recommended to Richard through a doctor friend because my anger was out of control. I felt it everywhere, at home, in the office with colleagues and even in shops or on public transport. Richard was able to help me find the roots of my anger and heal the wounds I had been pretending were not there. I have learnt how to use my anger constructively but most of it has dissipated and where there was anger there is now a sense of wisdom and simply being.
