The Lamplighter Dining Rooms is run by The Tasker Family - Sue, Alistair and James. Sue and Tony started The Lamplighter over 35 years ago and over that time have built an enviable reputation for customer service and the quality of the produce that we serve. Ten years ago Alistair and James took over the reigns.

Food and beverage is our absolute pleasure and we will only serve to you the very best of what we have experienced during our many years in the hospitality industry. We are a traditional British restaurant, specialising in locally sourced meat and fresh fish from Fleetwood. An absolute must is our critically acclaimed Sunday Lunch, reviewed by The Guardians Jay Rayner ("a nostalgic sort of happiness").

The Lamplighter has been a firm favourite on the Windermere bar scene since it opened over 21 years ago. As far as bars in the Lake District go, we firmly believe that The Lamplighter offers a wonderful variety to suit all tastes. It's location could not be more perfect, as we are the closest bar in Windermere to the main train station.

The Lamplighter Dining Rooms offers the very best in accommodation in the Lake District. With all of the guests bedrooms recently refurbished, we have been sympathetic to the Victorian heritage of this traditional Lakeland stone building, which dates back to 1865.
