To travel your pet will need a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, and will need an "animal health certificate" which is an extensive document valid for only 4 months onward travel, ie pets will need a new one for each trip/holiday. These take quite a lot of time and preparation by our vets so we would appreciate as much notice as possible when making any travel requests.

About
Report
It was a struggle in every sense but thanks to the loyalty and support of our clients and community we managed to open a modern and fully equipped surgery. It was a wonderful day with presentations from National Fox Welfare Society, Cats Protection and Nick Amis, father to our own doggy model Hector.
Vet Services
Report
Ensuring your pet receives the best available care and outcomes will always be our primary goal. However, it is also important you understand as much as possible about your pet's health and any issues affecting it. We always take the time to explain any diagnostics with you and of course you should ask all the questions you may have until you are satisfied.

Vaccinations
Report
At Higham Vets we are very much against over-vaccinating and therefore follow the most up to date WSAVA guidelines. Essentially this means only giving a full vaccination when testing demonstrates the necessity - usually no more frequently than every 3 years. The simple answer to this question is that prevention is better than cure.
Flea & Worming
Report
Reaction to flea bites can be variable. On some animals they go unnoticed, whilst others can be extremely itchy, have areas of hair loss and scabs on the skin. Severe infestation may even result in anaemia, especially in young kittens. Fleas can also transmit tapeworm. The most common flea that affects cats and dogs is the cat flea.
