
A family run traditional bakery in the centre of historic Lichfield, Staffordshire, a stone's throw from the birthplace of the literary giant, Samuel Johnson. Today the bakery is led by brother and sister team, Duncan Hindley and Jackie Beaumont. We are the fourth generation of the family to work within the business since it was established in 1893 by our great grandfather.
We work with our small team of skilled and dedicated bakers producing quality handmade bread, cakes, pastries and biscuits. Our bread and cakes are a unique combination of traditional recipes handed down through the generations and new product innovations by Duncan Hindley and the baking team. Our traditional breads are all made by hand using scratch ingredients in our small bakery at the back of our Lichfield shop. We bake many types of bread in a range of shapes and sizes with a combination of flavours and textures. Spelt is an ancient variety of wheat which is popular with those that prefer to steer clear of modern wheats.

We offer a wide range of cakes and slices to cater for all taste. From the rare Japonaise Fancies and Pineapple Creams to the staples of Rocky Road and Flapjack. Checkout our range, you're sure to find something that is simply delicious. We are one of the few bakers still making Japonaise fancies today.

Our puff pastry and locally sourced meat creates the perfect gourmet sausage roll made with pork and either apple, chorizo or sage. Why not try our homemade quiches with either cheese, ham and mushroom. Our savouries make the perfect snack or lite bite. The smooth texture and earthy flavour of the mushrooms really dominates this generously filled quiche.

As well as taking home the loaves you have baked, you will also take home a starter pack of fresh yeast, flour and all the information you need to get practicing.
