Sam's Chop Shop Within Sam's Chop House
Sam's at St Ann's: The Pop-Up Chop House is now open! Serving draught beers, fresh cooked food, , sommelier selected wines and fantastic live music from local acoustic musicians. Help us re-open: visit Sam's at St Ann's. Sam's Chop House was established in 1868 by Samuel Studd, brother to Thomas Studd of Mr Thomas's Chop House.

For over 150 years we have served the heart of Manchester with the very best of British food and drink. Though our owners are no longer the Studds, we are still an independent family business. And we love this city.

Sam's has real charm - it seems old-fashioned but not to the point of quaintness. The food is honest, locally inspired and if you can dodge the tram excavations and get a seat next to Mr Lowry at the bar you will have a good time.'

The chips are how chips should be, big and fat, piping hot with a light, frothy interior' 'If anywhere is the perfect food for Autumn, it's Sam's Chop House, with its cosy Victorian interior and gut-busting comfort food, it makes even the wettest of wet Wednesdays a joy and makes you feel nostalgic for a bygone era.'It doesn't offer retiring rooms for overstuffed diners, but it should.
Re-opening
Report
Over the past few days we've had a lot of enquiries and questions about why Sam's hasn't reopened despite the easing of restrictions. And about when we will reopen. In order to secure the future of Sam's Chop House and Cavendish House, the building in which we stand, we have come to an agreement with our landlords to support renovations and improvements to the building.
St Ann's
Report
While our landlords over at Cavendish House on Back Pool Fold work to make Sam's bigger and better than ever, we've got a little flavour of Sam's for you over on St Ann's Square. Sam's at St Ann's is our pop-up Chop House, serving freshly cooked food, cold draught beer, stunning wines chosen by our sommeliers, and live music.

A highlight is homemade corned beef hash topped with smoked bacon, eggs and parsley - a wonderful dish well able to stand alongside feggatini alla Veneziana, the classic version from Venice's Harry's Bar. It is simply wonderful. We have many imitators but can justifiably claim to have made this humble British classic a staple of the city of Manchester.
