Our friendly, efficient and hard-working team of GPs, nurses and healthcare professionals take pride in offering the highest standards of patient-centred healthcare. The practice is based within a modern, clean and well-equipped building, underpinned by the latest IT and communication systems such as text alerts and voice messaging technology, all designed to improve the efficiency of our patient care services.
A General Practitioner (GP) is usually the first point of contact for general healthcare for NHS patients, calling upon an extensive knowledge of medical conditions to assess, diagnose, treat and manage a health issue. Wherever possible we take the opportunity to prevent illness and not just treat it, promoting the best of health and well-being for all of our patients.

About us
Report
Mount Farm Surgery is a modern, efficient and well-equipped GP surgery in the Moreton Hall area of Bury St. Edmunds. First established in Looms Lane in Bury St. Edmunds, we moved to the Moreton Hall Estate approximately thirty years ago, which was built on the original Moreton Hall farmland at the top of Mount Road (hence the name 'Mount Farm').
Education & Training
Report
We regularly have GP trainee registrars working within the practice for a period of time (usually for either 6 or 12 months, depending on their stage of training) as part of the West Suffolk GP Training Scheme. They are qualified doctors who are undergoing further training to enable them to qualify to become a GP.
Bereavement information
Report
It is a legal requirement for a doctor to confirm that someone has passed away. There is no need to move the patient. If a doctor has recently seen the patient, a death certificate can normally be issued. However, in the event of unexpected death, the doctor will need to notify the coroner. Please be aware that when undertakers from outside of the practice area are chosen, it can cause a delay in issuing the cause of death certificate.
Appointments
Report
To make an appointment to see a doctor call 01284 769643 or use our on-line appointment booking service, which is in operation 24-hours a day. When you telephone the practice, a trained member of our practice team will ask you for brief details in order that they can signpost you to the most appropriate clinician, which may be a prescribing nurse, paramedic, physiotherapist, or a doctor.
Same-day urgent appointments – Triage
Report
Triage is a proven and safe way for surgeries to find the most efficient way to help patients and prioritise the most pressing appointment requests. The purpose of triage is to ensure that every patient requesting a same day "urgent" appointment is referred to the appropriate doctor or nurse for the appropriate level of care within an appropriate period of time.
