Sykes House Farm was founded in the late 60s by Martin Smith and his father. Back then we were livestock farmers, predominantly as pig breeders, but with a couple of hundred Hereford grazing cattle too. The UK farming industry has faced many tough challenges over the years, but through careful diversification, the farm gradually established itself as one of the best known catering butchers in Yorkshire.

PRIME BEEF Our range of Yorkshire beef

Our Prime beef range is hung as whole sides for a minimum of 14 days. The sides are then quartered and the select cuts hung for a minimum of another14 days to naturally dry age. An all year-round supply of Prime Beef from a single farm is an impossible task. Therefore, to ensure our fresh beef delivery we carefully select breeds from our trusted and experienced local farmers who only finish their cattle to the highest standard.
LAMB British lamb is hard to beat

Our supplier has his own flock of Texel sheep, a breed that has excellent muscle confirmation, a high yield of meat to bone, and being finished on heather gives the meat a very distinctive flavour. We hang our lamb for 10 days which enhances its tenderness. In season, British lamb is hard to beat. Spring lamb is at its most tender in early summer, but as the season progresses the flavour develops.

We believe that provenance, quality assurance and freshness are of equal importance to our customers, who are interested in animal welfare and the origins of the meat they wish to eat. Yorkshire Outdoor farms operate to RSPCA Freedom Foods standard; piglets are born outdoors and reared on straw, they have lots of space in which to naturally roam, root and wallow, and are healthy and as happy as pigs can be.
