In the late 19th and early 20th Century, William Bettelley operated a public transport company comprising of an open carriage and horses. He also had a carpentry and funeral business; making the funeral furnishings in the upstairs workshops of the existing buildings, where the horses were stabled down below.
WR Bettelley is still housed on that very same site today, maintaining a traditional, sensitive and dignified service as an independent family owned business which has been serving generations of the same families in the North Staffordshire area since 1905.
