The London Latvian centre started its work as long ago as 1950 when it was purchased by the "Daugavas Vanagu Fonds" organisation with money donated by exiled Latvians. The five-storey building at 72 Queensborough Terrace was arranged to accommodate various Latvian organisations, permanent residents, students, and short-stay guests.
