The same four staff members have been together for over 30 years so not only do we work well together but feel people appreciate seeing the same faces year on year. Stella and I began our partnership here in Lenton in 1983 in a conscious decision to avoid the more high street locations.

The first and main thing to remember is that your specs will sit on your face every day for the next 2 years or more so you want them to fit and be as comfortable as possible. You'll also want them to look good and give as clear vision as possible. Most people tend to think in terms of the frames but in reality it's the lenses that will have the major impact on weight and appearance.
James Dean & Marilyn Monroe

Our recent visit to Optrafair left us really impressed with the new Marylyn Munroe and James Dean frames. The first collection available within the Marilyn Monroe range includes some styles rich with Swarovski crystal elements, strong metallic details, and hand-made mosaic patterns. Each frame is ultra-feminine, ideal for both everyday and occasional wear.

We have been fitting disposable lenses since they were invented over 25 years ago. These day's they account for practically all the contact lenses we fit. The benefits of frequent replacement are well known and, with the choice of materials we have these days, far more people can wear contact lenses.

Not so long ago most people gave up wearing contact lenses once they passed 40 and needed a reading addition. These days we can offer clear vision at both distance and near to most people up to and beyond retirement age. At it's simplest we correct your dominant eye with a distance lens and non dominant eye with a reading lens.

2. Next we get an idea of your prescription with our electronic autorefractor, this is a computerised form of sight test and gets a pretty accurate measurement in seconds. All this before we enter the testing room. 4. Next we follow a normal sight test routine to assess the focusing and coordination of the eyes.
