The SouthSide story began in 2009. John noticed that landlords and tenants were being overcharged in many ways, from tenant fees to "hidden costs". So being a landlord himself, he started to manage his own buy-to-let properties, whilst completing a graduate management programme.

Eleven years on, SouthSide now employs a team of over 40 full and part-time staff who have all played a part in the company's growth and success and bring a wealth of knowledge to our clients.We are fortunate enough to have achieved significant growth each year.

To get the best return on your investment, we recommend regular improvements and refurbishments of your property. The type of let and number of tenants will determine the frequency and volume of work the property will require. For example, a 1-bed professional let is likely to require less maintenance and fewer upgrades over the same period of time than a 5 or 6 bed/person HMO (House of Multiple Occupancy).

SouthSide work closely with local business, contractors and suppliers to provide the best services to all of our landlords, tenants and team. We have worked with many of the same local contractors for years, with good long-term working relationships. Providing stable work for our contractors has allowed us to gain the best negotiated prices for our landlords in return.

1. Finding the right tenant - We have an online application process. We are not first come first served and carry out reference and credit checks for all applicants. We believe that if you market your property at a fair rent and ensure the upkeep of the furnishings and dcor that tenants will look to make your property their home for the long term and you are unlikely to have a high rate of tenancy changeovers.

There are various pieces of Legislation that govern rental properties. We have put summary of each below and at the very bottom of the page attached a PDF document that you can download as a handy guide. Purpose: To ensure tenants safety on their health especially on hazardous disease like Legionella that can be acquired by any tenant because the Landlord failed to check his property for any contaminated water.
