An acquisition/disposal contract is an agreement, or series of agreements, that governs the acquisition by one party, and the disposal by another, of part or all of a business or entity. Though contracts can vary, they generally take the form of a company purchase contract or an asset purchase contract.

An agent is a person authorised to act on behalf of another (called the 'principal') to create a legal relationship with a third party. Commercial agents enjoy substantial legal protections which are unlike those given to employees. These are set out in the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations, which were introduced in 1993 to bring the law of agency in the UK into line with other EU member states.

A Distribution Agreement regulates and records the relationship between a manufacturer of a product and a distributor of that product. The manufacturer can grant either exclusive rights to the Distributor or non-exclusive rights. It provides legal protection to both parties and may allow the manufacturer to set minimum targets to the distributor.
