Dyslexia & Vision

The most common type of specific learning difficulty is often called dyslexia and is defined as a difficulty with reading and sometimes writing too. Optometrists cannot diagnose dyslexia (this is usually done by an educational psychologist ) but can treat some of the symptoms. Not all dyslexic children have these visual problems, but for those who do, often simple eye exercises or in some cases spectacles can make a difference.

My kids (10 and 7 years old) recently had their eyes tested for the first time at Hynes Optometrists.
Everyone from the team at reception to the optometrist and all the assistants were absolutely incredible.
Along with the warm reception, the service and advice we received was informative and professional.

Had a lot of discomfort in my eye, and needed a check-up to ensure my contacts and my eye were ok. Have used opticians for c30 years and thought I knew them, but Hynes were amazing. Squeezed me in at the last moment, incredibly thorough, caring and such a lovely and experienced team. Would highly recommend.

I can't recommend Joy and her team at Hynes optician highly enough. My family have always received the best of care from each and everyone of the staff here. Recently, when my daughter, who is away in Cornwall was suffering with a problem with her eye and was unable to get anyone to see her where she is, Joy correctly diagnosed the issue over the phone and directed us to the eye unit in Truro. Due to the Covid restrictions my daughter spent all Saturday afternoon trying to be seen. They insisted on a referral which Joy kindly returned to the office to email to my daughter. She was finally seen

I was recommended this Opticians for getting my Daughter's eyes tested from my local friends. I have to say the experience was second to none- Friendly reception and very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful.
I was not expecting my Daughter to need glasses it was just a first visit to test her eyesight and I was so glad I went. The lovely Mrs Hynes saw to us and put my Daughter at such ease. I was totally amazed at the level of service and care we experienced That day. My daughter was over the moon at the thought of getting glasses and chose her glasses that day and we picked them up yesterday
