David Wilson Optometrists is Teddington's newest independent opticians. It is a family run practice with David being joined by his daughter, Rhianna. The most important part of visiting the Opticians is your time with the Optometrist and having a thorough eye examination. Our eye examinations usually require 30 minutes or more so please allow for enough time. Many of us know that having regular eye examinations is essential to check the health of our eyes and optimise your visual potential.

Most adults wear sunglasses on bright, sunny days but how often do you see children wearing them? When in fact it is just as important to protect children's eyes, if not more! Our eyes are 10 times more sensitive to UV than our skin and childrens eyes are at the greatest risk of UV damage. With larger pupils and clearer lenses it means up to 70 per cent more UV light reaches the retina than in an adults eye.

Having good vision is critical for a child's functional, educational and social development. A child's visual system develops over the first few years of their life. Identifying eye conditions early is key and produces a better outcome. We recommend a child with no concerns to have their first eye examination at three years old.
