CBT Course
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) prepares new riders for public road use. Participants learn controls, safety checks, and riding techniques using our hire bikes or personal motorcycles. All sessions include eyesight tests and safety briefings.
DAS Package
Direct Access Scheme training develops advanced riding skills. The complete package includes CBT, MOD1/2 training, test fees, and bike hire. Instructors focus on hazard perception and highway code compliance.
A2 Upgrade
A2 licence preparation course for riders progressing from CBT. Training covers power-to-weight ratio management and advanced control techniques. Requires 14-day cancellation notice for bookings.
ERS Course
Enhanced Rider Scheme improves existing riding proficiency through formal assessment. Participants receive feedback on safety practices and receive tailored improvement plans during one-to-one sessions.
Electric Scooter Training
Specialist Piaggio electric scooter instruction covers unique handling characteristics and battery management. Training includes charging safety protocols and eco-friendly riding techniques for urban environments.
Questions
What CBT packages are available?
We offer standard CBT courses from £150 (own bike) to £190 (hire bike), with optional £30 peace of mind cover.
Do you provide motorcycle hire?
Yes, we include Kawasaki Z125 and Z650 bike hire with all DAS packages and CBT courses.
Can I cancel training sessions?
CBT cancellations require 3 days' notice, all other courses need 14 working days' notice.
What safety equipment is checked?
Instructors verify all protective gear meets UK standards before training commencement.
Do you offer evening classes?
Training hours are 9am-5pm daily, with Thursday closures applying to all bookings.
What eyesight requirements apply?
You must read a car number plate at 20.5 metres with or without corrective lenses.

Ive just completed my DAS training here and cant recommend or praise them enough. Really helpful and friendly bunch that have a bit of laugh with you to help your nerves. The instruction from both Danny and Ian was brilliant, a huge thanks to them both. They both gave constant feedback to help you improve and build your confidence. Ill be heading back soon to book in on the advanced riders course! Thanks again to all the staff

Instructors Dan and Chris both superb in different ways. Excellent knowledge, tuition and Mod 1 and 2 training paced correctly with a 2 to 1 ratio. All done with a bit of grown up humour that created a few laughs throughout the few days. Passed both tests first time thanks to the instructors dedication.

My girlfriend Fiona switched to Shires after a disappointing experience with Circuit based Training. At first we were nervous as she would have to get used to a different bike she was previously training on. But it was well worth it. The training was great! I then joined her today for the enhanced rider scheme which I recommend to everybody as its subsidised by the council and teaches you how to ride safer and position yourself properly. Despite having 10 years riding experience I felt I learnt a lot from this experience and Fiona as a new rider gained more confidence. Thank you everyone at

The best place to start or to improve your riding skills. They are excellent proffesionals and they offer a variety of courses. All team staff is highly skilled and trained with many years of experience. They will go the extra mile for you and they will make sure you understand everything and feel comfortable. All my questions were answered and I even received tips on how to improve my skills. From logistic point of view, they have new modells of motorbikes, jackets and helmets with Bluetooth. I highly recommend this place and definitely i will go back if needed.

I did my CBT with Shires Motorcycle Training Leicester Ltd this week. I had never been on a bike before so i had some confidence issues but they have a great team of staff who are awesome people and thanks to their quality training, I left feeling confident safe and happy. I highly recommend them, great bunch of people, professional, friendly and I look forward to more training in the future!
