Our philosophy is as simple as the recipes that have been handed down through generations. We always use the finest flours, salt and the best ingredients available because we believe that excellent bread really does rely upon the finest ingredients and time-honoured methods of production. We value honesty and simplicity.
We supply Darvells with a comprehensive range of fine flours. We insist on the hightest levels of excellence, consistency and value throughout out range. We have 10 flour mills over our 4 sites producing in excess of 10,000 tonnes of products per week. With just under one-hundred vehicles in our fleet you can be confident of a quick, efficient and first class service.
To supply the ever growing number of customers with coeliac disease we are constantly trying out new recipes to increase our 'no gluten containing ingredients'. However, although all these products have no gluten containing ingredients, we are NOT a gluten free environment, therefore we cannot guarantee the items have not come into contact with the allergen.

SERENDIPITOUS ENCOUNTER..,
Lived in Amersham for almost 20yrs. Recently had an eye test in Chesham, accidentally found this Old Fashioned Bakery called Darvells, wondered in had a latte & an Almond croissant… the rest is history.
The best & fresh everything you would ever desire for in a Bakery… The Lovely 2 ladies are just like your Aunts who would spoil your rotten when you arrive at their house. Just imagine they would say: “Let them eat cakes”
Custard and Cream slices, Chocolate Eclairs and Almond Croissants are heavenly needed for me and the boys at least once a week.

Very nice local family owned bakery. Wide selection of bread, rolls, and specialities.
If you are looking for a more 'continental'/German type of bread, this place is also a very good bet.
The staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Would recommend for both, your regular bread haul as well as sweet and savoury treats (they have quiches etc for lunch as well, alongside sandwiches made to order).

I absolutely love this place. I find the prize items are Pasty, Lardy Cake and Vanilla Slice. I really don't think it matters what you buy here, it's always going to be good. As this is a traditional bakers, everything is made fresh instore. You can also get sandwiches here if you are in the area at lunch time.

I was just passing through when I saw this lovely looking family bakers. The food looked so scrumptious and I couldn't resist buying a two of the marshmallow ice cream cones for my children. They loved them so much , I was impressed how the marshmallow went right down to the very tip of the cone. Which is why I am doing this review today, then in top of that, I saw the must yummy chocolate cake which had a serving suggestion on there to warm the cake first and service with whipped cream. Boy did we enjoy the cake celebration for a birthday. My friend had not got a birthday cake for his big day

Fantastic baked goods, excellently baked fresh bread and really tasty assortment of sandwiches, rolls and baguettes with a vide variety of very tasty and affordable fillings.
More often than not when I'm in Chesham and need a lunch on the go I'm headed to Darvells to buy a chicken, bacon and spring onion roll with salad.
Occasionally there is a little bit of a wait when you go but whatever you're buying is always good so I guess it's worth waiting for.

I have been super impressed with how this local business has adapted during lockdown. Starting a local delivery service, and also being now my go to place for bread flour. My bread has never been so tasty, and I’ll continue to use this excellent local bakery in the future. Greggs and Wenzels May be in town now, but this place is well worth fully supporting over these generic national chains.
I have always enjoyed the Belgian buns here, and I’m so pleased I’m back regularly buying from them again.
