Here at Mettrick's we source all of our meat from farms within the Peak District, the North West and Midlands, with some slight seasonal variation. All of our cattle passing through our own small abattoir in Glossop will have travelled no further than 35 miles.

This close knit and traceable supply chain is important to us, not only for animal welfare reasons, but we also pride ourselves on being able to answer any query about the provenance of all of our meat.We believe this is something only a handful of butchers in the UK today can honestly claim to be able to do, & our customers often ask where their chosen cuts of meat were sourced and all of our staff are trained to tell them exactly where.

High Peak Beef

Mettrick's beef is sourced locally from farms in the Peak District and Cheshire. We use Aberdeen Angus and continental cross heifers from a small number of selected farms. We monitor the animals feed, welfare and environment ongoing. Animals come direct from these farms, to our own abattoir, and are hung for a minimum of three weeks.
Chicken & Turkey

Chicken & Turkey supplied by Mettrick's is sourced from local farms that use non-intensive methods, and poultry is processed directly on the farm. We only source poultry from small farms that focus on welfare and produce excellent poultry. Our short distance food-chain ensures that we have maximum control over quality & flavour, we know exactly where each and every piece of chicken or turkey comes from.

Notable winners are Old English (North West BPEX Champion), Traditional Pork Sausage (North West Sausage Champions) and our Manchester Sausage (North West Best British Banger). Gluten Free Range

All of our Gluten Free products are suitable for Coeliacs with an intolerance to both gluten and wheat. Sausages and bacon listed below are made from free range pork, so are not just Gluten Free, they are fresh tasting and of the highest quality. All marinades used in these products are also gluten free and have been deemed suitable for Coeliacs.
