Our mission is to create a safe, caring, friendly, productive learning environment in which pupils and students are encouraged to reach their full potential. We seek to accomplish our mission through providing performance opportunities and offer examinations and assessments to reward achievement. The Academy produces its own full scale production show at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple every two years.
Every pupil from age 4+ is invited to take part and many groups from the show are then entered into the North Devon Performing Arts Festival held in October each year. Other performance opportunities have included: Summer Seasons at the Saunton Sands Hotel, Pantomime and two West End performances at the London Shaftsbury Theatre & The London Palladium.

Ballet
Report
This historic form of dance needs little introduction. Often described as 'the key dance discipline', ballet teaches grace, poise, musicality, correct posture, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility. It is one of the oldest dance forms and is still hugely popular being the foundation of all dance studies.
Tap
Report
Tap focuses on making fun and interesting percussive rhythms, and incorporates many different styles of music. From the funky 'Stomp' style of tap, through to the West End 'top hat and tails' variety, there really is something to suit everyone. A rhythmical style of dance which provides an enjoyable way for young dancers to develop their co-ordination and appreciate the enjoyment of percussive sound and movement.
Adult Classes
Report
Ballet for adults is turning into one of our most popular classes every week! Recognised as one of the best ways to keep fit, building stamina and your core, as well as keeping in tune with your own body. We offer Improvers classes, Intermediate classes as well as Silver Swans classes (Ballet for the over 55's).
Budding Ballerinas
Report
These classes are aimed at children aged 3 - 4 years to give them a chance to have fun, burn energy and enter the world of dance. The class introduces them to the world of dance and movement using natural body actions like walking, running, jumping, skipping and galloping.
All the above actions help a child's physical development, spatial awareness and co-ordination and also curriculum learning skills like counting, colour, shape and language skills. This also shows that learning can be achieved through movement which is fun and enjoyable. Children can also learn that at a young age they can tell a story and show their emotions through dance, music and imagination.
