Awaken With Yoga
This is now my legal name, but more importantly my chosen name and has been since around 2002. Many people feel they are something other than the labels, names, circumstance & conformities that either life or other people give them. We all have the right to be true to what we feel. We should only ever be whatever makes us happy, as happiness is ultimately the true purpose of life!

My path of Yoga started as a student in September of 1996. I began teacher training in 1999, qualified in 2001 and I started teaching part time 2002 and full time teaching in 2004 and love Yoga in so many ways, as much today as ever. Please be assured you are in safe hands when deciding to join classes.

Every Yoga teacher is unique. While we all have to undergo the same rigorous training, yoga is a very free flowing expression of the self for both teacher and student. The development of self awareness to bring about a better way of living and conducting our lives on all levels. The yoga classes offer a good length of time for all the above areas to be taught and explored.
About Yoga

What is Yoga? Many people ask this. Explained simply, it is a path to finding unity. Union is the translation of the word yoga. The practice incorporates techniques that work on your physical body known as the postures, improving your physical health.

Yoga is practised in a peaceful calm environment and looks at the world from a more compassionate, different and positive perspective, and from various practices including really understanding relaxation, breathing, and if desired practising meditation, therefore improving your mental emotional well being for a healthy state of mind and spirit.

On a physical level, I teach yoga for real bodies. The physical aspect of yoga can put people off, when they see very complicated poses, in books and on the web. You can wrap your legs round you head if you wish and I could show you how, but I won't join you! Yoga is the path to understanding YOU, and working with YOU, and not from a competitive nature or ego.
Helping your mind & spirit

The other main reason people try yoga is to find a little peace and calm in this fast paced world in which we live. I, along with many people in this world, firmly believe, if the mind is healthy and happy the body will follow. Stress is a result of not listening to what we need and often pushing ourselves to the limit.
Are you a beginner

You could have a beginners class of 20 people and everyone is different ages, shapes, heights abilities and has come along for a variety of different reasons from bad backs to general aches, to wanting to relax, de-stress or simply make new friends. I have students that have practised for years and when it comes to postures some beginners accomplish great postures that the "so called" experienced yogis can't.
