No appointments required, customers can come to the shop as normal but if there are already people being served we politely request you wait till the shop is clear. When Simon Robinson began making picture frames at his kitchen table, he couldn't have envisaged that 40 years later his hobby would have grown into a thriving family business. Starting small, selling his wooden frames at car boot sales, Simon's handiwork proved so popular he soon outgrew the kitchen and moved production to the family garage, before sending an SOS to son Lester - working as a butcher in Australia - for help.

Lester was taught picture framing by his father Simon, who started the business off as a hobby operating from his shed in the back garden in 1980. The last 40 years has seen much expansion led by Lester, who still takes pride in the fact that Simon Robinson and Son still provides the same one to one service that only a family business can bring.

Due to the demand of our diverse range of clients, we are able to offer a really comprehensive selection of mounting and framing services. I can't speak highly enough of Simon Robinson & Son. I work as an artist, and often neglect to consider how the framing will work with the final piece. Lester has been a huge help with this.

Ethical commitment

Right from the beginning we have always used 100% recycled corrugated cardboard to wrap all our frames. Also, where possible, we try to re use all packaging that comes to us, and what we cannot use is still recycled. Our off cuts of mount board and Hardboard are given to local schools and art charities (and Lester's or Jane's kids!).
