Paul Brooks Osteopath
Paul Brooks has worked as an osteopath in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire since 2007. Osteopathy is similar to chiropractic, physiotherapy and the ancient art of bonesetting. It is an amazing, gentle and effective, manual healing technique that can help with a wide range of problems. Many people feel that it not only fixes their aches and pains and injuries, but also helps them achieve greater well-being.

Your doctor may support the use of osteopathy, but the principles and philosophy of osteopathy are quite different to the conventional medical model. It aims to be more natural and holistic; helping patients to feel better and achieve better health, ideally without reliance on medicines. The clinic is in a lovely space above Philip Sheridan's hairdressing salon in the Weir, Hessle.

Other Conditions
Report
Although the popular view of osteopathy is as a treatment for bad backs, osteopaths have a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology and learn gentle and effective techniques for many parts of the body. Osteopathy can help osteoarthritic pain of the hips and knees; many headaches and migraines; frozen shoulder; tennis elbow; cramp; circulatory and digestive problems; and many more.
Sports Injuries
Report
The British Medical Association's guidance for general practitioners states that doctors can safely refer patients to osteopaths. Reduced joint flexibility will affect the degree of performance and may result in injury if the player is unaware that they cannot perform to the same level as they once did, for example golfers who cannot turn at the waist as well as they used to, or the over-enthusiastic older footballer.
Throughout Life
Report
There are no age limits for osteopathy. Modern life puts strains on all of us: The increasingly sedentary life of many young people; long hours spent driving or at a desk in mid-life; older adults may have problems with their health and fitness, but may still be going out to work or caring for others, and may need to tend the garden or keep up with the grandchildren.
Your 1st Consultation
Report
The first appointment will include a full case history and examination. You will usually be asked to undress to your underwear, but if preferred you may wish to bring some shorts and a tight-fitting top. You may be covered with a towel during examination and treatment. Your modesty will be respected at all times.
