Acorn Playgroup and Pre-School is run by dedicated, qualified and experienced Practitioners, many of whom have children of their own. The team are trained to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage and our ethos is to create a secure, safe and stimulating environment that encourages the children to play and learn.
We work in partnership with parents/carers and strive to make a positive contribution to each unique child by extending their knowledge and helping them to grow. All staff members are subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and other relevant suitability checks and training is undertaken and updated regularly.

What Our Parents Say
Report
We are extremely proud of the reputation we hold within our local communities, with most of our families finding out about us through personal recommendations. Acorn is a fantastic preschool. The staff are extremely trustworthy, kind and helpful. My daughter was very shy and timid before starting at Acorn, unrecognisable from the child that she is today; confident and always happy.
Sessions & Fees
Report
Pre-School Nursery Sessions are held 1 pm to 4 pm, for children from the term after your child's 3rd birthday to rising 5. Children may attend our pre-school sessions until 3 pm if required. Lunch Club Sessions are available from when your child turns 3. We follow a healthy eating policy and we ask you to bring in a nut-free packed lunch and drink for your child.
How to Apply
Report
We always recommend that prospective parents/carers visit our setting with their child. Visits can be arranged by booking a slot online, or by contacting us via telephone or email to arrange a mutually convenient time. This includes a book bag for your child and can be done prior to or following your planned visit.
Uniform
Report
Parents and carers are offered the option of purchasing an Acorn Playgroup & Preschool uniform for their child. Life at Acorn can get very messy and we always recommend that parents and carers do not send children to Acorn wearing their best clothes or favourite top.
Wearing a uniform gives the children the freedom to join in with messy activities without worrying about their clothes, and enables them to focus on being creative, messy or just having fun! Wearing a uniform also helps children feel like they belong to the setting, being alongside others in the same t-shirts and jumpers. The Acorn uniform is always optional and we will never insist on children wearing it.

Acorn Songs and Classic Nursery Rhymes
Report
We use traditional and seasonal songs and rhymes daily to provide instructions to children; advise of key times throughout our sessions; assist speech and language development; teach termly topics and to increase confidence in group environments. Here are a list of songs which we sing throughout our sessions and with the children during carpet time.
