Zen-Shin Martial Arts Association in Birmingham is a professional family run martial arts academy, established in 1980. We support physical, emotional and social development. Our mission is to make our students more successful in life through practice of their martial arts and to always influence them in a positive manner.
To accomplish this, we must instill 'Black Belt Excellence' to set goals for self improvement and to develop the non-quitting spirit that is necessary to overcome obstacles and become successful in life. Here at Zen-Shin we practice traditional Shotokan Karate which originated from Japan, we also have mixed kickboxing classes and ladies only kickboxing classes.

Karate is a great way for our students to make friends and have fun, all in a controlled and safe environment. They get to develop their inner 'Karate Kid' under the supervision of Zen-Shin's Karate Master. Our Mere Green club has been running for over 30 years, and has a rich and diverse history of students.
Aldridge *NEW CLUB

Zen-Shin Aldridge is our newest club, and will be run by our instructor, Jane. She will be assisted by Suzy. The instructors have over 10 years experience in karate between them, and Karate is a big part of their way of life. Sensei Jane is a Zen-Shin trained referee, who has traveled Internationally to referee multiple competitions.
Digbeth

Our students get the chance to compete in our Zen-Shin competitions that happen twice a year. This is something for them to work towards, and gives them a sense of achievement and builds confidence. Winning medals also helps. Our Digbeth Academy is based on the High street, and is a 2 minute drive from Birmingham city centre.
Saltley

Our classes have lots of siblings training together in the same class. This creates a good atmosphere between children, and helps to build better relationships between brothers and sisters. Our instructors are there to help your child progress at their own pace, and there to support you every step of the way.
