Video calls via Skype, Facetime or Zoom can also be accommodated. If, however, you feel there is a necessity to arrange a face to face meeting, either at our premises or at your home, then we would be willing to discuss this possibility with you. This is the recommended limit on the number of attendees.
If you feel there is an exceptional reason why you would wish to have more attendees then they have undertaken a risk assessment using 1m social distancing; providing all attendees are wearing a mask this figure could be increased. In addition, Face coverings are still a requirement of Hastings Crematorium, except by those who are medically exempt.

About Us
Report
Why choose Towners? We are the oldest established locally owned undertakers in the Hastings and Rother area - the last of the independents from the 19th Century. This year is our 146th anniversary. We are a small, family owned business so we don't have to answer to shareholders in the way the big, national companies have to.
Company History
Report
The Company was established in 1875 by Frederick Edward Towner, a local cabinet maker and undertaker in the fledgling community of St Leonards-on-Sea, Britain's first New Town. E.''s grandfather, Thomas, was a builder from Seaford who, along with many builders and artisans from all over Sussex, was commissioned by the architect, James Burton, for the New Town scheme.
Our Company
Report
We are a family owned business of funeral directors and monumental masons who have operated in the Hastings and Rother area of East Sussex since 1875. Our offices and chapels of rest are located in St Leonards-on-Sea, Bexhill and Battle. Our own specialist stonemasonry workshop is close to the main office in St Leonards.
Hastings & St. Leonards Branch
Report
Hastings born and bred, Edward started work at Towners when he left college in the mid 1970s. He became Managing Director in 1987 and worked in this capacity up until 2021. Being the fifth generation of the Towner family to run the firm, he has always been acutely aware of the legacy his forebears have left.
Battle & Ninfield Branch
Report
Now semi-retired, Colin has been a familiar face at Towners for over 40 years. He oversees our Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plans and is happy to sit and discuss people's thoughts about their own funeral arrangements and advise them on their best course of action. Colin is based at our Battle office but will be able to meet you at any of our offices or at your own home if preferred.
