Established in 2004 by Stephen Tester and Glenys Jones, Tester & Jones is Crowborough's only independent funeral director. Being an independent funeral director means that we can offer you more choice and we can be more flexible in our approach. We have many years' experience in conducting and arranging every aspect of funerals to an exceptional standard and we are passionate about looking after people.
We cover the areas of Crowborough, Uckfield, Rotherfield, Mark Cross, Mayfield and Buxted as well as other villages in East Sussex and West Kent. Unlike some of the larger groups we're not about meeting sales figures and targets and we only want to provide you with what you want and what is affordable for you.

When Someone Dies

The death of loved-one can be a traumatic experience. Even when a death is expected, you will still feel a sense of shock and experience a mixture of emotions and questions. You may feel overwhelmed by what needs to be done and the many questions there are to answer and decisions to be made. When your loved one has died, you are welcome to call us at any time of the day or night, as we are available to take your call 24/7.

There are a number of cemetery sites in Kent and Sussex where new graves are available and we will be able to determine whether interment will be possible at your desired churchyard, or we can present you with a list of possible options.

When it comes to paying for a funeral, there are services we provide - such as the hire of a hearse and collection of the deceased - and third party disbursements, which include costs related to the crematorium, doctors' fees and ministers' fees etc.The cost of the coffin is in addition and we have a huge variety to choose between.
