Osteopathy
Report
Osteopathy is a gentle and effective hands-on approach to healthcare. Osteopaths train for four years and are qualified to diagnose and treat a wide variety of muscle and joint problems. Osteopaths use a variety of techniques including stretching, massage and manipulation, to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body's own natural healing mechanisms.
Back Pain
Report
You are not alone, four out of five Britons will suffer from backache at some time in their lives. The good news is that 95% of low back pain is "non-specific" this means that it is NOT due to serious damage or disease and won't need a scan or x-ray. For this type of back pain a combined approach of education, exercise and hands on massage, stretching and mobilisation work can really help.
Neck Pain
Report
Neck pain can arise for many reasons; a strain or sprain, arthritic changes in the neck, fatigue or weakness of the postural muscles. Neck related symptoms may include headaches, upper back and shoulder tensions and even arm pain. Osteopathy has been shown to be useful in helping people who suffer from uncomplicated mechanical neck pain, general aches and pains, neuralgia, and neck related headaches.
Shoulder Pain
Report
Shoulder pain can arise from any of the muscles, joints, or ligaments in the shoulder, neck or upper rib and spinal areas so it is important to know where you should begin in your management of your pain. Many shoulder problems are due to weak postural muscles or the beginning of arthritic changes.
Work Injuries
Report
Millions of working days are lost each year due to occupational injuries. If you have pain from a work related injury or posture, the osteopathic approach may help you. Low back pain and sciatica are a common complaint in this profession. Often a combination of recurrent bending and lifting are the main reasons for injury.
