Services
Osteopathy Treatment
Our osteopathy treatment addresses musculoskeletal conditions through hands-on techniques including soft tissue work, joint articulation, and manipulation. This approach improves mobility, reduces pain, and supports natural healing processes. Patients benefit from individualised care plans that consider their specific symptoms and lifestyle requirements.
IDD Disc Therapy
Specialist IDD Disc Therapy targets disc-related conditions using computer-controlled spinal decompression. This non-invasive treatment relieves pressure on nerves and intervertebral discs, particularly effective for slipped or herniated discs. Combined with manual therapy, it offers lasting pain relief when conventional treatments prove insufficient.
Sports Injury Rehabilitation
Our sports injury rehabilitation combines osteopathic techniques with tailored exercise programs to accelerate recovery. We address acute injuries and chronic conditions affecting athletes at all levels, focusing on restoring function and preventing future injuries through biomechanical assessment and targeted treatment.
Postural Advice
We provide expert postural assessment and ergonomic recommendations to address work-related and lifestyle-induced musculoskeletal issues. Our advice covers workspace setup, movement patterns, and muscle balance strategies to prevent recurring pain and maintain spinal health.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Customised exercise programs complement manual treatments to strengthen supporting muscles and improve flexibility. These evidence-based routines address individual weaknesses and movement imbalances, promoting long-term musculoskeletal health and preventing symptom recurrence.

Questions
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, arthritis, sciatica, and disc-related issues. Our osteopaths also address postural problems and provide rehabilitation following injuries.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with our reception team or online. We also welcome referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals for specialist care.
Is osteopathy covered by insurance?
Our treatment is covered by all major insurance providers including AXA, Aviva, and Cigna. Please check your policy details for specific coverage information before your appointment.
What is IDD Disc Therapy?
IDD Disc Therapy is a non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for disc-related conditions. It uses computer-controlled traction to relieve pressure on discs and nerves, particularly effective for slipped or herniated discs when manual therapy alone isn't sufficient.
How many sessions will I need?
Treatment plans vary depending on individual conditions. After assessment, your osteopath will recommend a tailored programme. Many patients experience significant improvement within 6-12 sessions, with regular reviews to monitor progress.
Do you offer emergency appointments?
While we don't provide 24/7 emergency services, we prioritise urgent cases and can usually offer same-day or next-day appointments for acute musculoskeletal issues requiring prompt attention.

Berkhamsted Osteopaths helped me out earlier this week when I needed urgent treatment. Even though they were clearly very busy they somehow found time to fit me in. Thank you so much

Discrimination. Unbelievable. I have actually used this osteopath myself a few times and the care is reasonable but they have a mask policy that seems to have not appreciated the change in the UK in the last 6 months. They seem to seek to enforce a mask wearing policy (in contradiction to their sign) but do not undertake other advice such as ventilation which is known to be far more effective in control of disease. Last straw for me today when I found out after recommending my girlfriend attends, who is exempt from mask wearing, they made her wait in the rain outside for her appointment. Simply

I cannot recommend highly enough, Tim, Juliet, Clare, Bobby, Charlie and Jason and the team at Berkhamsted Osteopaths. I have been a patient on and off for a number of years, and every 'bout' of treatments has been dealt with professionally and efficiently, and my problem has been resolved. The reception staff are always welcoming and friendly. An excellent practice.

I was suffering with a slipped disc and sciatic pain for almost a year, I could not sit down for longer than 5/10 minutes and the only exercise that I could tolerate was walking. I had tried physio, visited a chiropractor, sports massages, but the pain did not go away. I was told by 2 consultants that my only option was surgery, and the day before… it was scheduled I came across a forum about IDD. I cancelled my surgery, and am now on my 19th session of IDD. The pain has gone from 7/10 to almost 0/10, and I feel like I have my life back. Thank you to Tim, Clare and Bobby for giving me the

I have an ongoing issue that flairs up from time to time and so see Juliet for both regular preventative therapy as well as emergency treatment in a crisis. She always manages to ease my suffering as well as offer practical advice to keep me active. She has an excellent knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting me and comes across as sensitive, caring and professional. In addition the receptionists are always kind and caring so that I always come away feeling cared for as a whole person. Thanks everyone.

I have used Berkhamsted Osteopaths for the last 2 years and cannot speak too highly of them. They are exeptionally professional and yet retain a friendly manner. Regular 'maintenance' treatments from Juliette have helped enormously.
