Questions
What does a family law solicitor do?
Family law solicitors handle legal matters related to relationships and family, including divorce, child arrangements, financial settlements, and prenuptial agreements. They provide expert legal advice, negotiate settlements, and represent clients in court when necessary.
How much does a divorce cost in the UK?
Divorce costs depend on case complexity. Court fees are fixed at £593, while legal fees vary. We offer fixed-price options for straightforward cases and transparent cost estimates for more complex matters.
Can I stop my ex from seeing our children?
You can only prevent contact if there are safeguarding concerns affecting the child's welfare. Courts generally encourage parental relationships unless evidence shows contact would cause significant harm to the child.
What is a child arrangements order?
A child arrangements order specifies where a child lives and how they spend time with each parent. It can include details about contact schedules, holiday arrangements, and decision-making responsibilities for major life decisions.
How do financial settlements work in divorce?
Financial settlements divide assets, property, and income when relationships end. Courts consider factors like marriage duration, financial needs, and childcare responsibilities. We negotiate fair outcomes through mediation or court proceedings.
Do I need a solicitor for a divorce?
While not legally required, a solicitor ensures proper handling of financial and child-related matters. They provide crucial advice on rights, negotiate settlements, and protect interests, especially in complex or contested cases.
