A dental practice was established in this building in the early 1920's. Antony Borthwick has worked here since he qualified and took over as principal in 1985. Tim Jukes joined the practice in 1993 and Chris Beavan has been at the practice since 2003. We aim to promote a complete preventative approach to dentistry and offer the services of our full-time hygienist, Denise Lannen.

The NHS provides the minimum treatment that is necessary to maintain a reasonable state of oral health. There are obvious limitations, particularly in the field of cosmetic dentistry i.e. Denplan is a care scheme, which covers the cost of routine treatment (check-ups, fillings and gum treatment). The amount you pay per month is based on the condition of your teeth.

We will ask you about your medical history and any drugs you may be taking, please make a note of the names of them and let us know. Please tell us if you are pregnant, have recently been ill or if you are receiving treatment from a GP or hospital. If your personal details change i.e. your name and address, please let us know.
Special Needs

We can make arrangements to provide home visits for a limited range of treatment for those unable to come to the surgery. Patients who use a wheelchair or are unable to manage the stairs can be seen by prior arrangement in the ground floor surgery. Please be aware there is no lavatory on this level.

Are you concerned about any aspect of your dental appearance? Please talk it over with us, we will be happy to give you advice and a guide to the possibility of any necessary treatment. We currently offer 2 systems for tooth whitening. There is an at-home system where you are supplied with the whitening agent and custom-made trays and your teeth are whitened over a period of about two weeks.
Emergency Treatment

If you are in pain outside surgery hours please call 0191 273 3554. Our answer phone will tell you the contact number for out-of-hours emergency treatment, although you will not be treated by someone from this practice. Patients with a dental emergency during surgery hours will usually be seen the same day.
