Services
History
Report
The Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic (ESVC) dates back to 1813 when Joseph Sewell MRCVS, an equine vet and his son Frederick moved their business to Elizabeth Street and called it 'The Infirmary for Horses and Dogs'. Two more generations of Sewells followed, Alfred Sewell MRCVS, a recognised authority on how to control rabies in dogs and his son Louis Sewell MRCVS an expert on distemper.
Services
Report
We offer a wide range of services to keep your pet in good health and provide the best possible treatment for illness or injury. If your pet needs repeat prescriptions, please contact the surgery by phone with a minimum of 24 hours notice. You can find information on our Monday to Friday opening hours here.
Emergency treatment
Report
If your pet falls ill or suffers an injury, you want to know that professional help is at hand, especially if it's outside routine clinic opening hours. In cases of emergency, call 020 7730 9102, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A member of staff will take the call and offer advice or arrange an appointment with one of the onsite duty vets.
Healthcare
Report
Preventative healthcare can help your pet enjoy a healthier life and avoid potentially serious diseases. We offer straightforward advice on healthy routines, preventative treatments and controls to reduce the risk of your pets contracting these diseases. We see many more sick puppies and kittens bought through 'free-ads' services from newspapers or the Internet than those from registered breeders.
Home visits
Report
We offer home visits if your pets needs veterinary attention but you are unable to bring the animal to the clinic. If your pet needs urgent attention, we will aim to visit as soon as possible. However, it is difficult to provide home visits during our emergency out-of-hours clinic, as there is only one vet on duty and incoming emergencies and patients in the wards must take priority.
