James began his culinary career at 15 and trained under Michelin-starred chefs Gary Rhodes and Alastair Little. He was head chef at The Cow before co-founding The Fox & Hounds Restaurant & Bar in 2004, bringing decades of expertise in seasonal cuisine.

What are The Fox & Hounds' opening hours?
We are open Wednesday–Saturday 10:00–22:00 (kitchen until 20:30) and Sunday 10:00–17:00 (kitchen until 15:30). Closed Monday & Tuesday.
Can I book private events at The Fox & Hounds?
Yes, our dining room hosts up to 45 guests, with whole-venue hire available for 80 guests. We cater for weddings, parties, and business meetings with bespoke menus.

I booked Sunday lunch here to celebrate my wifes birthday and whilst the experience was - as Sunday lunches in decent village pubs go - very nice, I think I had perhaps overestimated how fancy the occasion would be, based mostly on the abundance of Michelin based wording on the website. The pub itself was fine and the food was great, if a little unimaginative for the level it claims to be - very limited choice for vegetarians. The service was ok - staff, whilst very pleasant, seemed generally a little uninformed about the menu and certainly didnt seem particularly encouraged to bring

Nice of them to accommodate our dogs, a bit muddy too. Sadly the meal was not as advertised, missing items. But I can see it is a lovely place, will try again.

Just nice....one of our meals was ok, the Venison for my partner was tough....service was average...strange but we enjoyed the ambiance...could be better
