Wayne Twitchen Osteopath
My approach to Osteopathy has been influenced by a considerable amount of life experience accrued before I embarked on my five year training to become an Osteopath. My background has ranged from engineering, to printing, to studying Exercise & Health Science at university and finally personal training.

I am a qualified Gym instructor, got to a reasonable level in Karate (admittedly a few years back now) and still like to run. Oh, and I think being a musician was in there somewhere as well. Although the above may read a little along the lines of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Osteopath, I am shamed by none of it.
Services
Osteopathy
Report
Although osteopaths treat many conditions, most people think of us as 'back specialists'. Back pain is what many osteopaths treat a lot of the time. Osteopathic treatment does not target symptoms only but treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms.

Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance, Imagine, for example, a car that has one of its front wheels not quite pointing straight. It may run well for a while, but after a few thousand miles, the tyre will wear out.
Kinesiology Taping
Report
Have you ever wondered about the brightly coloured tape you sometimes see famous athletes wearing? It's called kinesiology tape and can benefit a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and inflammatory conditions. Almost anyone of any age can use kinesiology tape.

It isn't an osteopathic treatment but can provide effective relief from both acute and chronic pain and can also be used for preventative measures, making it a valuable addition to enhance your overall treatment plan.Do a lot of repetitive movements, such as in gardening, which result in pain due to inflammation and overuse.
Ultrasound Therapy
Report
If you have a muscle strain, soft tissue injury or joint swelling you might want to consider ultrasound therapy. Used for over 50 years for the treatment of sport injuries and soft tissue damage, it isn't an osteopathic treatment, but can be a valuable addition to any treatment plan. Ultrasound therapy involves transmitting high frequency sound waves into the affected area using an ultrasound wand.
Pricing & Hours
Report
As a rule I try my best to be flexible, so appointments are sometimes available outside of the above hours, please enquire. Where possible I will send an 'appointment reminder' text prior to appointment, but this cannot be guaranteed and it is the responsibility of the patient to keep the appointment.
FAQs
Report
An Osteopath will be able to examine you within the scope of their speciality i.e. a muscular or skeletal disorder. However, there may be occasions where you will be referred to your GP for further investigations or tests. However it would do no harm to discuss with, or tell your GP that you are being treated by an Osteopath.
