Since acquiring the business in 2020, owner Simon Oakland has combined his culinary passion with over 25 years of hospitality experience to create a welcoming gastro pub offering fresh, locally-sourced cuisine. Our kitchen, led by chef Hayley Elbourne since 2012, works closely with trusted suppliers like PE Burley, the Turvey Butcher, to deliver seasonal menus featuring daily fish specials and at least three vegan options. Front-of-house manager Cliff Elbourne ensures exceptional service, maintaining our temperature-controlled cellar for perfectly conditioned real ales. The venue also offers five en-suite bedrooms, including pet-friendly garden annex accommodations, making it ideal for both casual dining and overnight stays.Our historic building, dating back to the 18th century, provides a unique setting with its original features and beautiful garden space. First time visit , very friendly and welcoming. Food was nice pub grub. Service with a smile is always top of my list theres nothing worse than a grumpy waiter/bar staff pleased to say all the staff were polite and attentive...if in area again would definitely revisit.
