Services
Bridges
Report
Once it has been fitted the bridge does not need to be removed from the mouth each day, unlike a denture. Fixed bridges - the tooth or teeth adjacent to the missing tooth are reduced down in size (similar to the process for making a crown for a tooth) and a bridge can then be custom made to fit over the prepared teeth with an artificial tooth crown filling the space.
Dental Implants
Report
A dental implant is a titanium artificial tooth root that is placed into the jaw bone. Crowns, bridges or even dentures can then be placed on top of the implant which supports them. Dental implants can be an ideal solution for a missing tooth, or teeth, if you would prefer something that is fixed in the mouth and is not removable, like a denture.
Getting to grips with Gum disease
Report
Gum disease is also known as periodontal disease. Gum disease is an inflammatory disease that affects your gums, the ligament that attaches the tooth to the bone and, in more severe cases, the bone itself. Gingivitis means inflamed gums. If you have gingivitis your gums will appear red, may be swollen and are likely to bleed when you brush your teeth.
Dentures and false teeth
Report
Dentures are custom made for each individual patient. They can be partial (if you still have some of your own teeth) or full (if you have no remaining teeth). Dentures are made out of acrylic, metal-chrome based or a flexible material known as Valplast. When teeth are missing and gaps cannot be filled with something fixed, such as a Bridges, a denture may be a solution.
