Great place, super cozy rooms. Felt relaxed from the moment I walked in. The time in the free standing bathtub was a magical experience. The owner is very kind and even speaks a little Polish, I left my coat in a room and had no problem retrieving it. We also received a champagne since it was out anniversary. Family run business that main focus is to provide the most relaxing stay for their guests.

As a dining venue Sutherland House is consistently inhospitable. We were met by a confrontational man who continued to patronise and point at us. The radiator reflected his cold attitude, the lack of bread and butter aligned with his mean spirit and to continue with the theme, most of the food on my plate was dry and tasteless. To end on a positive note, the Kir Royale was fruity, delicious and served in a beautiful glass. Take note that man! Thank you to the waitress who noticed the obvious mistakes on our bill.

We only ate in the restaurant and did not experience the rooms. Our meal was of excellent quality and it was such a shame that having arrived at the restaurant at 6.30 we were immediately told we would have to VACATE the premises on the stroke of 9 pm!! Already not impressed with that, but we went ahead and ordered our meals from the small, but perfectly formed menu. Food was very nice but if I am to be very honest, I would suggest you try The Randolph Hotel in Reydon. The host/owner of Sutherland House was very charming but I was underwhelmed by his hospitality and Cavalier attitude. Sorry, but

Small hotel and restaurant in Southwold
Visited because of the top reviews and it did not disappoint . Quite a small menu but the food was of a very high quality and not too expensive. Restaurant booking is a must as usually booked about 3 weeks in advance, not sure if its the same for residents. No designated parking. We will visit again.

We had dinner at the Sutherland. It was superb. The service was spectacular, food was amazing and the pudding which had been cooked by the owners wife was worthy of a 3 star restaurant. We had such a lovely evening. P.S. your wife should enter the great British bake off, I bet she'd win!
