Cataracts & Macular Degeneration
Report
A cataract is a clouding of part of your eye called the lens. To help produce a sharp image the lens must be clear. The clouding can make your vision become blurred as it acts like a piece of frosted glass, interfering with your sight. Most people over the age of 60 have some cataract and the vast majority can be treated successfully.
Glaucoma & Diabetes
Report
If you have diabetes this does not necessarily mean that your sight will be affected, but there is a higher risk. If your diabetes is well controlled then you are less likely to have problems, or they may be less serious. However, if there are complications that affect the eyes then this may result in loss of sight.
