Your Authentic Indian Dining Experience in Cambridge
Established in 2004, Raja Restaurant in Cambridge is a culmination of decades of culinary heritage rooted in Bangladesh and Scotland. Our founder, Aminur Rahman, known as Raja, inherited traditional recipes from his family, which have been perfected over generations. Starting as a modest venture in the Scottish Highlands, our journey led us to Cambridge, where we introduced a unique blend of Indo-British curries, earning acclaim for innovation and authenticity. Recognised nationally with the English Curry Awards' Best Takeaway in 2014, we continue to prioritise quality, using halal ingredients and time-honoured techniques.

Today, our team, led by Raja's son, maintains the legacy of excellence while embracing modern hospitality. Our vibrant dining space and popular takeaway service cater to locals and visitors alike, offering a menu that balances classic favourites with creative twists. With private dining options and catering for up to 200 guests, we remain committed to delivering exceptional experiences, ensuring every meal at Raja is a celebration of culture and craftsmanship.

Im well traveled and this has absolutely the best Indian food experience Ive had in the UK. Raja himself is a fantastic host and gave great recommendations. The food was excellent. If you like spice my with flavor, I highly recommend the chicken Vindaloo and naan.

Arrived at Raja without a booking as it was a last minute night out with old friends. As four guys arriving with a lot of excitement , we were very disappointed with how over spiced and artificially hot the food was made for us. Sceptical side of us believes it was entirely intended having eaten a beef Bhuna many times a year for decades. Disappointing.

First thing off the bat - make a reservation! We were lucky enough to be squeezed in by the owner, on what turned out to be a very busy evening. Excellent service, delicious food, generous servings, all for a great price. I will be visiting again as soon as I come back to Cambridge. A fantastic family restaurant, thank you so much for seating us!

Very good food and friendly staff. Honestly one of the best curries I have had in recent years. The restaurant is pleasant and has a good atmosphere and comfy booths to dine in. I took one star only because it is quite expensive. (Although very tasty)
Would recommend! I would personally recommend the dansak and black daal. Very good.

Just ordered on deliveroo - the food was packaged horribly which led to the paper bag exploding all over the floor which is shown in the photos. I rang and the first person i spoke to was extremely rude and the next person who claimed to be manager refused to re deliver our food. Will not be ordering again as theyve left us with a hungry family with 2 under 5s. If less than one star was possible, thats what id be putting.
