We offer exclusive use of our historic venue for weddings and private events. The property includes multiple reception spaces like the atmospheric sitting room, dramatic dining hall, and the Museum room with its working cider mill. Our grounds provide picturesque settings for ceremonies and photographs, with accommodation available for up to 18 guests.
Afternoon Tea
Served daily between 3pm and 5pm, our afternoon tea features a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and delicate pastries. Exclusive Hire
The entire property can be booked for exclusive use, ideal for corporate retreats, family gatherings, or special celebrations. This includes access to all nine luxury bedrooms, multiple event spaces, and our landscaped grounds. Our team can arrange bespoke menus, team-building activities, and conference facilities.

How do I reach Old Downton Lodge by car?
From Ludlow, take the A4113 towards Knighton, then turn left signposted Downton. Follow this single-track road for 3 miles. From Shrewsbury, follow A49 to Bromfield then same route.

We had the most wonderful, relaxing time at Old Downton Lodge. The staff are sweet and attentive but not overbearing. The accommodation was immaculate and cosy, very comfortable bed and pillows. The food was out of this world - exquisite presentation and flavours. Thank you so much to everyone for making our stay a fabulous experience. We will be back as Arnie said!

Had the perfect break here; what a gem of a find. Stunning setting and immaculate rooms. Friendly and super professional staff, breakfast was the highlight until we had an evening meal - our best dining experience ever, just exquisite. Old world dining room meets modern food. Eat in a beautifully restored oak beamed, converted grain store, that feels like a Middle ages great hall. With excellent food, a nice wine list and great service. Recommended.
