Pen-y-Bont Hotel is a historic 16th-century coaching inn nestled on the shores of Llyn Mwyngil (Talyllyn Lake) in the heart of Snowdonia. We have welcomed visitors since the 16th century, with Angela and Brian taking ownership in 2005 to continue this legacy. Our commitment to excellence extends to our Fireside Restaurant, which serves locally sourced cuisine, and our lakeside beer garden that showcases one of Wales' most iconic vistas.We offer year-round motorhome and camper van parking, seasonal bed and breakfast accommodation, and special packages for walkers, cyclists, and families. Our location provides easy access to the Talyllyn Railway, Cadair Idris mountain, and the Traws Eryri Cycle Trail, making us an ideal base for exploring Mid-Wales. We maintain the traditions of Welsh hospitality while adapting to modern needs, including our recent return to being dog-friendly in 2025. Our team's deep knowledge of the region ensures guests receive expert guidance on local attractions, from ancient castles to hidden waterfalls.

Our five letting rooms offer comfortable stays with mountain views. Each room features ensuite facilities, flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, and tea/coffee making facilities. The family room sleeps 3-5 people while our Williams Idris room welcomes dogs. Parking is complimentary for B & B guests.
Fireside Restaurant
We serve home-cooked meals using local ingredients in our traditional restaurant. Evening meals are available most nights with vegetarian, vegan, and fish options. Guests can dine lakeside in summer or by our log fires during cooler evenings.
Motorhome Parking
Our lakeside car park accommodates motorhomes and campervans year-round. Overnight stays from 6pm cost 10 per vehicle until noon the next day. Daytime parking is available for 5 per vehicle in our scenic location.

We have five letting rooms with mountain views, including a family room sleeping 3-5 people. Our Williams Idris room welcomes dogs, and we also offer the Sea Moss Cabin for alternative accommodation.

Yes, our Williams Idris Double room welcomes dogs with a £15 nightly charge. We provide easy access to local walks and require direct booking through our phone number.

Absolutely excellent Angela and Brian are fantastic, the room was lovely and clean and the food is excellent. The hotel faces the lake and has a lovely walk right around the lake on good walking ground, if you walk all the way around it thre is a couple of stretches on the road but it's manageable. It's situated at the Mach loop where you might if you are lucky get to see the aircraft fly through the valley which only happens on weekdays and is not all day long and also the weather can affect it. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to thank Angela and Brian for everything

In the heart of beautiful scenic view is this cosy hotel, 10 miles from the city this place is ideal if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind. The hosts are lovely they provide home like feel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We visited this facility with a family of four with my wife and two daughters. Though we paid more than 450 pounds our visit was a total failure for the reasons narrated below. Dont commit the mistake that we did and learn from it , if you are visiting Wales in the nearby future.
1. My wife committed the mistake of booking this hotel last year through booking.com who kept on rolling this facility for more than a year claiming no refunds would be entertained when everybody else was providing refunds,
