Who We Are
Report
Cranfield Flying School is the largest and longest established flying school at Cranfield Airport. The airport has a worldwide reputation for flying training and aviation education and is one of the best equipped in the UK, with the facilities to handle training to the highest level with full instrument landing capabilities (ILS, DME, ADF and GNS approaches) and a long, well maintained, tarmac runway.
Our Team
Report
Jim has been in and around Cranfield Flying School for a number or years advising and helping the school to modernise. He worked for most of his career in large corporations but always had a love of flying having learned to fly in the University Air Squadron in his late teens. Jim has a PPL with an Instrument rating and loves to fly on long trips around Europe.
Contact
Report
The university is building a state of the art aeronautical research unit sponsored by Boeing and Rolls Royce. The upshot is that you have to find parking wherever you can and walk to the school down the pedestrian access way. The best area to park is to the right when you hit the authorised vehicles only sign.
Our Fleet
Report
Our fleet is based on Piper Aircraft. The basic trainer is the Piper PA 28 Warrior and you will stay with that aircraft for consistency until you reach LAPL/PPL standard. After that you can graduate to a more complex aircraft such as the Piper PA 28 Arrow or the PA44 Seminole Multi Engine Aircraft.
Introduction
Report
There are many different ways to learn to fly, with different aircraft, differnt airfields, different types of courses and different forms of piloting. This can be very confusing to someone entering a flying school for the first time. We operate what is called a modular sytem of flying training using Piper aircraft (Warriors, Arrows and Seminole).
