In 1975 Mr Bray started David Bray Opticians in Matlock, Derbyshire. With a belief in the values and service that an independent optician can offer to its patients, the practice was able to provide customers with the highest standard of eye care possible. After Mr Bray retired, his legacy has continued and we decided we wanted to make a difference to the world.

Making the move to establish himself as an independent optometrist, Mr David Bray started his practice from humble beginnings. With help from family and friends and a testing room build from the frame of one of his uncle's old green houses, David was ready for business!

Established in 1930, Richards Opticians is one of the longest standing independent opticians in Newark. Originally started by the McNicol family. Mr McNicol senior managed the practice before handing the business over to his son, who was famously known for playing the organ to his patients, many of whom still come to us today!
