Second Charge Loans

Commonly made available to people who are paying off a mortgage and who have gained a degree of equity in their property, second charge loans are - in effect - secured loans that can be used for any legal purpose. In other words, you can obtain one with an additional charge that is added to your monthly payments alongside your mortgage.

All forms of bridging loans are short term, usually up to 12 months. Where a property is taking too long to sell, and equity in that property which is to be used in the purchase remains tied up, then in order to save the purchase from falling through, it is possible to take out a bridging loan for the value of the equity, which will be repaid later from the sale of the current property.
